21-Meals
When SNAP benefits were suspended at the beginning of November, Outreach activated the 21-Meals Plan — a temporary, rapid-response shift designed to ensure every Polk County neighbor had reliable access to food during an uncertain time.
What 21-Meals Was
21-Meals temporarily transformed our Food Pantry from our usual client-choice, self-shop model into a streamlined drive-thru distribution system. This allowed us to serve a sudden increase in households quickly, safely and efficiently.
Each household received 21 meals per week:
These meals were provided in two boxes:
Meal quantities scaled with household size, ensuring both families and individuals could rely on a consistent weekly supply for as long as the shutdown continued.

Why We Did It & Who We Served
The 21-Meals Plan was launched in direct response to the temporary suspension of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. With many Polk County residents suddenly without support, Outreach moved quickly to help fill the gap and maintain food stability for our community.
21-Meals was available to every Polk County resident affected by the SNAP suspension — families of any size, individuals, seniors and anyone facing food insecurity during this period.

We are grateful for the generous support that made this rapid response plan achievable. The Polk County Community Foundation provided significant support for the 21-Meals Plan and our Polk County community, alongside contributions from:
- Gateway Wellness Foundation
- AdventHealth
- Members of our community
Together, these supporters made the implementation of 21-Meals possible.
