Made for Community
Outreach is developing part of our property to build rental houses in response to Polk County’s need for more supportive, affordable housing. These homes will be available to Polk County residents looking for safe, quality housing at an affordable rate. Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers are also accepted. |
Phase one
Phase 1 of our development was completed in March 2023 and includes four homes -
The three 2BR/2BA houses were started at Polk County High School (PCHS). PCHS Construction students, led by instructors Keith Rimer and now Eric Morlino, completed the exterior shells which include framing, installing and painting exterior siding, windows, doors and the roof. Once the houses were moved to Hope Valley Lane, RimerCorp finished out the interiors of the houses and completed the remainder of the work.
Generous donations from Suzanne Plumly's Estate, Ann Jacob Tom's Estate, the Bradley Fund at the Polk County Community Foundation and donations from Outreach donors made the construction of the Phase 1 houses possible.

phase two
Phase 2 of our property development project was creating important infrastructure so we could build additional homes. Dogwood Health Trust awarded a generous grant to Outreach in 2021 to cover the costs of clearing property, building a bridge across the creek that runs through the neighborhood, installing sewer and water, cutting in and paving roads. The majority of the infrastructure work was completed in 2022 & 2023.
phase three
Phase 3 construction is underway and will result in 17 houses which will be a mix of 1 bedroom duplexes, 2 bedroom, 3 bedroom and 4 bedroom homes.
To date, six homes have been completed in Phase 3 -
Two additional houses are scheduled to begin in April 2026.
Thanks to Darren Meyer with MKSK, a planning, urban design and landscape architecture firm in Greenville SC, our neighborhood design is coming together. Our plans include a walking trail around the property, green space and gardens and easy walking access to shopping and restaurants in Columbus.
