Planned Giving
Planned giving offers thoughtful ways to support Outreach now and in the future. These options allow you to create a lasting impact for Polk County families and individuals while aligning your charitable giving with your personal goals and values.
BEQUESTS
The most common and straightforward form of planned giving is a bequest. A bequest is a gift made through your will or estate plan that supports Outreach in the future.
By including Outreach in your plans, you help ensure that families and individuals in Polk County continue to have access to food, shelter and essential support for years to come.
If you have already chosen to include Outreach in your will, we would be grateful if you let us know. Sharing your intentions allows us to plan responsibly and gives us the opportunity to thank you for your generosity.

A bequest may be a good option if you:
- Would like to make a meaningful gift while maintaining use of your assets during your lifetime
- Have assets beyond those you plan to leave to loved ones
- Wish to honor or remember a family member or friend
- Hope to create a lasting family legacy of giving
- Care deeply about the future of Outreach and the Polk County community
Charitable Remainder Trusts
A charitable remainder trust allows you to make a future gift to Outreach while also receiving income during your lifetime or for a set period of time.
Assets such as cash, appreciated stock, bonds or real estate are placed into a trust managed by a trustee. The trustee may sell and reinvest the assets, and the trust provides regular payments to beneficiaries you name. These payments can be made for life or for a specified term of up to 20 years.
When the trust ends, the remaining assets are distributed to Outreach to support our programs and services.

Types of Charitable Remainder Trusts to Consider
Charitable Remainder Unitrust (CRUT)
A CRUT provides annual payments that are recalculated each year based on the value of the trust’s assets. Because the trust is revalued annually, payments may increase or decrease over time. This option may appeal to those who prefer flexibility.
Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust (CRAT)
A CRAT provides a fixed annual payment, set when the trust is created. The payment amount does not change over time, offering a predictable income stream.
