How It Works
-
Polk County Schools counselors and teachers identify students who would benefit from Backpack Snacks
-
Outreach purchases food and receives food donations from donors, volunteers and friends throughout the year
-
Outreach volunteers pack bags weekly based on the number of students reported by the schools
-
Bags are delivered to schools each Thursday and then distributed to students each Friday
How You Can Help
Backpack Snacks gives students the nutrition they need for a strong start each week. Your donation or volunteer time makes it possible to keep every child fed.
There are several ways you can help:
-
Donate Monetarily: Make a financial contribution to support Outreach
-
Donate Food: Check the monthly Food Pantry Wish-list and drop off items at Outreach (134 White Drive, Columbus, NC 28722)
-
Volunteer: If you are interested in helping pack and/or deliver weekly bags, contact Alyssa Davidson with Outreach at alyssa.davidson@tboutreach.org or (828) 817-2988
