Eligibility and Requirements
Outreach's services are extended to individuals and families that are in a time of crisis. In addition, our service area is currently limited to those residing in Polk County, North Carolina. Those requesting financial assistance through Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry are asked to pay a small portion toward the bill for which they are seeking help. This is to encourage self-sufficiency and stewardship. However, no individual or family is denied service solely based on the ability to pay. No funds are given directly to any individual or family. Instead, services are provided through payments from Outreach directly to vendors or in the case of food assistance, services are provided directly through our on-site food pantry. In addition to the eligibility requirements listed above, those seeking services must:
- Meet with an Outreach representative to complete an intake interview and application - Qualify for services based on financial resources and need - Provide the actual bill (that the family is unable to pay) to qualify for payment assistance - Provide verification of Polk County, NC residency (e.g., current bill with home address) - Photo ID of the applicant - Proof of household income (total income for all family members) - Awareness and/or written list of total household expenses
