Adding TBOM To Your Will
Why do I need a will?
Approximately two-thirds of Americans do not have a written will. If you do not establish your will, then the state will certainly make one for you upon your passing. So, the questions you need to answer are:
1. Do I care who gets my property after I die?
2. Do I care who receives my money or cash assets when I die?
If the answer is yes to the above questions, then you need a will in order to implement your wishes upon your death.
How do I leave add TBOM to my will?
It is quite simple to leave Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry in your will or living trust. You may choose to set aside a certain dollar amount or leave a percentage of your estate and assets. You may also bequeath retirment accounts and paid-up life insurance policies TBOM as well.
Do I have to completely revise my will to leave a bequest to TBOM?
No. SImply ask your attorney to amend your will or trust through a "codicil" which allows you to bequeath assets to Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry upon your passing. You must (1) add our legal name: Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry Inc. to your will and; (2) designate the specific dollar amount of your bequest or leave a percentage of your estate to Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry.
How will my legacy gift be used after I am gone?
Unless otherwise indicated, your legacy gift will be used for our greatest need - supporting the day-to-day operations, programs and services of TBOM. For designated or restricted gifts (such as Endowed Gifts), please be sure to contact TBOM's Office of Development to help determine the best way to use your planned gift for the benefit of TBOM's children and families in crisis.
Do I need an attorney or professional advisor?
Although it is not absolutely necessary to have an attorney in order to establish a will or add TBOM to your bequest, it is highly recommended. Your attorney or advisor can make sure that you and your family are geting the maximum tax and legal advantages for your gift. In addition, by informing us that you have left TBOM in your will or trust, your name will be added to the TBOM Legacy Society for recognition (Note: If you do not wish your name to be added, then a name of "anonymous" will be used on any recognition).
