School Supplies Program

Being equipped with the proper tools for school is essential to academic success.
Outreach recognizes that in order to break the cycle of poverty and hunger, children must be prepared to learn and succeed in school. Additionally, statistics show that children tend to learn and retain more information if they perceive themselves to be on a level playing field with other children. Children that are academically prepared have higher
self-confidence, self-worth and pride, which in turn, results in better grades.
The School Supplies Program serves school-aged children (Pre-K - 12th grade) and guarantees that all Polk County students have the tools they need to start the school year on the right foot. Each year, Outreach collects and purchases new back packs, pencils, notebooks, pens, paper, binders and other supplies for distribution. If you are interested in partnering with Outreach and would like to donate, you can make a monetary contribution by clicking the orange "donate now" button on the home page of our website. Be sure to click the "school supplies program" button to designate your donation. If you prefer to shop, you can drop off new school supplies and backpacks at Outreach (134 White Drive, Columbus NC) by Wednesday, July 26.
Outreach is partnering with the Polk County Sheriff's Office this year on our School Supplies Distribution Event. This year's event will be held at Polk County Middle School (321 Wolverine Trail, Columbus NC) on Saturday, July 29 from 10am - 2pm. In addition to school supplies and backpacks, this year's event will feature a Resource & Information Fair, haircuts and a hot dog lunch.
